I did a shoot at Yoga for the People recently for a new line of silk screened yoga wear by Yogi Danielle Hoogenboom. Her designs are very cute, and a nice East Van option to the usual spandex yoga clothing. I also highly recommend her classes which have cured my hunchback!

Hand and Shadow updates and a tiny owl

I took a snow walk today in Strathcona to photograph some pretty new Hand and Shadow scarves and discovered a tiny owl perched in some grape vines. I think it is a Northern Saw-Whet owl after a lazy google search on local owls. Anyone know this bird?

Just finished up a Look Book for the 2011 Spring Summer collection for Mira and Belle.

All the pieces are hand knit and one of a kind. Model Kaleigh Westfield was transformed from sweet to tough to represent the dual sides of the collection.

The Car Butler Featured in the Vancouver Province

The Car Butler (aka Marc Bonin) had his business profiled in Tuesdays Province. His concept is ingenious, and I highly recommend him. He caught a very crucial problem with my car and saved me a trip to the mechanic. I photographed him last fall at the Wall Center. Learn more about The Car Butler.

A few weeks ago I attended a charity wedding dress auction for The Cinderella Project. There were more than a dozen model brides! The Cinderella Project was started to help encourage youth to stay in school and achieve the milestone of high school graduation, giving young people the opportunity to break the cycle of poverty for themselves and their families. This was so fun and for a great cause. Maybe I should start shooting weddings.......

Andrea S. the Rainbow Effect

I finally got a chance to edit a few more shots of model Andrea S. She's such a great model that there were tons of shots to choose from. She was so cute prancing around the studio, doing all these original poses and moves. I just learned how to do this rainbow effect with gradients in photoshop. Now I need to stop myself from "rainbowing" every shot. We also managed to get a few shots of the surreal fog that hung over Vancouver last month.

AG Hair Cosmetics Fashion Show

A few weeks ago I had the fun job of shooting the AG hair show. It's a yearly event where AG's top stylists showcase their new techniques and products in a colorful runway style fashion show. The models and hair creations were amazing. They also gave me some products to try (never a bad thing). Now my hair is super shiny and smells like cherries and marshmallows!

I have a photograph in an exciting new book project called Vancouver Matters. Here is a blurb from the press release:

"Vancouver Matters" presents a reading of the city through multiple points of view; from professors and students at the UBC School of Architecture and Landscape Architecture to artists, architects, and designers living and working in Vancouver.

Representing Vancouver’s history and present materiality through writing, drawing, and photography, "Vancouver Matters" offers a critical examination of the city’s faults and opportunities. The text is organized by material condition, ranging from trees, views, and water to intimacy, iconography, and residue. Each investigation uses the specific material as a lens through which the city can be seen anew.

My photograph shows the Woodwards building project in 2007, in it's early stages. The book can be purchased at the Charles H. Scott gallery on Granville Island.
